Hi there! I'm Suma.
I love making things. I always have!
I’m a Visual Designer with experience in branding, design research and strategy. I enjoy exploring different mediums of craft and illustration to create compelling stories that make a lasting impact.
I have lived, studied and worked in New Delhi, Singapore, Mumbai and New York City.
Having studied my Masters in Strategic Design & Management at Parsons School of Design, I am skilled in diverse methodologies that drive innovation through design thinking, in-depth research and rapid prototyping. My Bachelors in Design Communication at LASALLE College of the Arts, gave me a deep insight and a firm foundation in graphic design, illustration and advertising.
I have experience working with financial institutions, consumer goods companies, fashion and apparel brands and not for profit organizations. As a result, I have had the opportunity to broaden my design skills across several industries.
Another side of me.
Largely focussing my personal work on causes that I care about, I have worked closely with organizations in India, Mexico and the United States. As a volunteer - field work, teaching, design and photography - I have been a part of projects dedicated to marine conservation, economic empowerment of women, rural education and wildlife conservation.
I founded Say S Studio to communicate the value of responsible design and innovation. S stands for Service Design, Social Impact and Sustainability. These three underlying factors are what the studio offers - through art direction, design thinking and experience design.
My passion for the ocean and its wildlife has a strong influence on my work. I carry a camera everywhere I go, and take a lot of photos of the awesome animals I find!
